August 12, 2010 - New Scholar Orientation
As with any orientation, the group met to hear in more detail the requirements and benefits of being a Choose Ohio First Scholar. But there was more... Sure they probably expected to take part in a get-to-know-you activity, but did they know jumping-jacks would be involved? And did they know their STEM lessons would be starting that very night as they learned about how respiratory cilia beat, and then performed the cilia dance? I must say it was a wonderful time, am happy to have met new class of COF Scholars, and am excited about the upcoming academic year. - Tim Sisson, COFSP Coordinator

The 2010 academic year began with a strike. Well....maybe a gutter ball or two. The 2010-2011 Choose Ohio First Scholars came together in The University of Akron's Student Union Game Room to see old faces as well as meet some new ones.
